INSS Research Intern Receives STRATCOM Award

INSS Research Intern Alex Richter received the Larry D. Welch deterrence writing award on August 5 from U.S. Strategic Command at the STRATCOM Deterrence Symposium in Omaha, Nebraska for his essay titled “Chinese and US Approaches to Artificial Intelligence in Nuclear Strategy.”

INSS Research Engagements in Australia Advance Indo-Pacific Security Research

INSS Expert Gives Keynote at Global Taiwan Security Annual Conference

On July 2-3, 2026, Dr. Tom Lynch was the invited guest of the Institute of European and American Studies of Academica Sinica — the National Academy of the Republic of Taiwan (ROC) — to participate in the two-day Global Taiwan Security Annual Conference (GTSAC) held in Taipei, Taiwan. Dr. Lynch attended the five conference panels gave the closing keynote speech on July 3, 2026, titled “Global Reordering and Implications for Taiwan.”

INSS Hosts Counterparts from Japan's National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS)

On Tuesday, 2 June, INSS hosted a group of researchers from Japan's National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS) and a group of Japan Self-Defense Force (JSDF) officers from NIDS’ National Security Strategist Studies Program for a research dialogue and general discussion on the US-Japan alliance and broader strategic and security affairs in the Indo-Pacific.
