Mr. Todd Pennington, Senior Research Fellow for Space Strategy and Policy at the Institute for Strategic Studies' Center for Strategic Research, moderated a panel on Current Issues in National Security Space Operations at the 19th Annual Eilene M. Galloway IISL Symposium on Critical Issues in Space Law. The Symposium, held at the Washington D.C. offices of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld on December 13, is presented annually by the International Institute of Space Law. The panel discussed alignment of DoD commercial space acquisition with commercial space regulatory processes, organizational updates about the U.S. and Japanese military space forces, and legal aspects of space-based security threats. Panelists brought perspectives from commercial space, legal education, and U.S. and Japan defense organizations. Mr. Pennington is an individual member of the International Institute of Space Law, and participated in the Institute's annual general assembly the day after the Symposium.
