On 21 Jan, the Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS) welcomed two experts from Japan’s National Institute for Defense Studies (NIDS), Dr. Hiroshi Yamazoe and Mr. Reito Kaneko, for a research dialogue.

Dr. Yamazoe, Head of the America, Europe, and Russia Division in NIDS’s Regional Studies Department, and Mr. Kaneko, Research Fellow in the Cyber Security Division of the Policy Studies Department, presented NIDS’s newly published China Security Report 2026, titled “Imbalanced Partnerships: China, Russia, and North Korea.” Their presentation sparked a broad discussion on Indo-Pacific security issues with INSS experts and NDU faculty.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to explore shared research interests and discuss potential future collaboration.
