The Institute for National Strategic Studies’ Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction at National Defense University invites you to join us on 16-17 July 2025 for our Annual Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Symposium, titled:
Deter, Counter, and Defeat: WMD Challenges for the Joint Warfighter
This year’s symposium will focus on pressing WMD-related challenges facing the U.S. Joint Warfighter and U.S. interagency over the next five years, potential solutions, and overarching implications for U.S. deterrence and countering-WMD strategies.

Symposium Discussion Policy
The National Defense University maintains a strict policy of non-attribution. Without the express permission of the speakers, nothing can be attributed directly or indirectly in the presence of anyone who was not authorized to attend the conference.
Symposium Attire
Business attire for civilians and Service equivalent uniform (Class B) for military.
Badging
The conference facility opens at 7:15 a.m. All attendees and participants are required to sign in at the registration desk and to present photo identification to obtain a badge. Attendees must wear the badge visibly at all times while at National Defense University.

This year’s symposium will be conducted at the unclassified level, under the Chatham House Rule. Registered participants will receive the final agenda and read-ahead materials 2-3 days prior to the event.
