On 22 May, T.X. Hammes, Distinguished Research Fellow at the INSS Center for Strategy and Military Power, was quoted in The Economist article titled “America’s new ship-killer missiles come to the Philippines.”

Hammes explains that deploying the short-range missile system will “create uncertainty for China’s military leaders,” enhancing U.S. deterrence efforts across the region.
