2021 Annual Symposium

The National Defense University’s Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) invites you to join us on 16-17 June 2021 for the virtual Annual WMD Symposium, entitled WMD Policy and Strategy Under the Biden Administration.  

This year’s symposium will focus on how the WMD landscape has changed in recent years, will continue to change, and the new administration’s approach to addressing key challenges and issues.  Senior officials and experts will discuss administration priorities, alliances and partnerships, challenges and successes, and approach to geopolitical relationships in a changing world. Issues to be addressed include nuclear weapons policy, chemical weapons use, arms control and nonproliferation, biodefense, emerging technologies, and requirements, plans, concepts, and capabilities for countering WMD.

*** Due to COVID-19 precautions, this year’s Symposium will be virtual and will be conducted at the unclassified level, under Chatham House Rules. Registered participants will receive the final agenda and read-ahead materials 2-3 days prior to the event. ***
